Josep Maria Mestres Quadreny (1929)

    Josep Maria Mestres Quadreny was born in Manresa in 1929 and studied sciences at the University of Barcelona and composition with C.Taltabull. His music is distinguished in its constant spirit of renovation in the musical language used and by the incorporation of new techniques, both in the composition itself and in the use of instruments. His field of exploration is very broad, ranging from works performed by the public themselves to works composed with the aid of a computer. He has collaborated with such plastic artists as Miró, Tàpies, Villèlia and T.Codina and has written incidental music for theatre and cinema and also, with Joan Brossa, various works for musicals, ballet and opera.
